Chicago Theater Works Wedding
Just three short months before their wedding date, Mary Beth + Eric’s venue backed out, leaving them with a very short amount of time to reschedule every vendor, and a literal nightmare of logistics. Enter Chicago Theater Works to the rescue. Thanks to booking this awesome last minute space, they managed to rearrange everything in that short time, putting together a wedding that was perfect for them.
You might recognize bride Mary Beth from Emily + Joes wedding, previously shared here on this blog. Mary Beth and Joe are in the comedy/improv world together and have been friends for years and stood up in each other’s weddings so it’s no surprise that Mary Beth is just as funny and kind. She is absolutely hilarious, but my favorite thing about Mary Beth is how comfortable she is in her own skin- she is so warm and truly herself in every sense of the word. She was just that on her wedding day, from her gorgeous head of red hair that worn with a soft curl and braid, down to the white Nike hightop sneakers she rocked beneath her wedding dress, a look she completed with family heirlooms sewn to her dress by her loving mother. Groom Eric looked awesome in a grey suit with a fabric flower pin in place of a boutonniere.
I loved the way Eric + Mary Beth went with the flow of the day, especially after the nearly catastrophic change in plans. After the sweetest blindfolded First Look, this easy going bride and groom fully embraced the wild Chicago winds off Lake Michigan during our stop at Belmont Harbor. After that, we headed to the Chicago Theater Works space, which the couple and their families had decked out with decor handmade by Mary Beth’s parents and incorporating the couple’s passion for movies. During their funny and touching ceremony, both Mary Beth and Eric said they’d been writing their vows to one another in their heads for years.
As we ended the night with shotgunned beers and a light saber photo shoot (the force is strong with these two…), I was walking next to Eric as Mary Beth skipped ahead of us. As he watched her with a smile, Eric said, “Just look at her. How did I get so lucky?” I happen to think they're both pretty dang lucky to have found one another.
Here are some of my favorite photos from their Chicago Theater Works Wedding:
Thank you, MB + Eric for choosing me to capture this very special and well-earned day. It was truly a pleasure.
