Colorful Punk Rock Chicago Wedding

Sarah and Nick have been together for years and have come across their fair share of obstacles, so it makes sense that all they really wanted for their wedding day was to celebrate the life they’ve built together with their loved ones surrounding them, and their dog, Gus. When those are your priorities, you can find a way to make any wedding tradition your own, and to completely do it all your way. Sarah and Nick did just that with their colorful punk rock Chicago wedding.

Nick is a drummer and Sarah a talented live music photographer, so it’s no surprise that their wedding was a Chicago rock-and-roll dream complete with the groom in Docs, the bride dying her signature mermaid hair to a silvery ice blue, and Portillo’s cake for dessert. They chose the perfect west-side venue for their colorful, intimate celebration complete with tons of greenery, epic murals, and eclectic yet comfy seating. The Living Room’s proximity to awesome Indian food and Humboldt Park, where we stopped for photos before their ceremony, didn’t hurt either.

I loved the way Sarah and Nick rocked their own styles and found a way to make every detail very much their own, leaving lots of space to just be together as they became husband and wife. Being part of their intimate celebration, surrounded by their awesome friends and petting their pup Gus all day, truly reminded me of how special it is to get to be a witness to these moments. I am just the luckiest gal in the world to do this for a living! PLUS, when the skies opened up (despite a perfectly clear weather forecast), they didn’t even mind stopping for ice cream and cheese fries to wait out the storm.
