Queer Fall Wedding at the BRIX on Fox
At The BRIX on Fox in Carpentersville, IL, Katie + Drew’s fall wedding day was picture perfect. As the leaves turn vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold, the nature around The BRIX on Fox transforms into a fall wonderland. Imagine exchanging vows with your partner as the Fox River glistens in the autumn sunlight, surrounded by the natural beauty of the season and the warm glow of the exposed brick.
The Brix on fox
The BRIX on Fox has the perfect blend of contemporary style and rustic charm. Nestled alongside the Fox River, this venue boasts picturesque views that provide a serene and romantic setting for your big day. The modern architecture paired with exposed brick and wooden beams creates a sophisticated yet inviting environment, with space for everything from intimate ceremonies to elaborate celebrations.
Katie + Drew got ready separately with their wedding parties in family homes before meeting in front of the BRIX on Fox for their first look. The anticipation was palpable as these two gorgeous, hilarious, and lovely brides prepared to marry their very best friend on a beautiful autumn afternoon.
A perfect First Look
After a morning with their loved ones, Katie + Drew met in front of the BRIX on Fox for their private first look. They stood back to back, giggling and clutching each other’s hands, before turning around and being moved to tears by seeing their bride in her wedding dress. The joyful and tearful reveal was one of my favorite parts of this wedding day.
Fall portraits of two beautiful brides
The BRIX on Fox is surrounded by so many gorgeous photo opportunities that the locations are endless, even on foot. For Katie + Drew, we really wanted to find the best pops of fall color. We found trees bursting with autumn foliage on the bike path just behind the venue, and wandered the grounds for sun soaked (and slightly silly) photos of the two of them and their wedding party!
Instead of fresh florals, Katie + Drew went the earth-friendly route and opted to rent their bouquets instead! You’d never know that these gorgeous fall bouquets were actually reusable, rented silk flowers!
Forever athletes, Katie + Drew officially made my record books as the first brides to chest bump each other on their wedding day! These two had my team laughing all day, and it made for such joyful photos.
Creating a comfortable and affirming environment is crucial for any couple, and even more so for LGBTQ+ marriers. As a queer wedding photographer, I understand the nuances and importance of feeling seen and validated. This perspective helps me to build a genuine connection with queer couples, ensuring they feel safe and celebrated throughout their special day. The resulting photographs capture their true selves, free from any pressure to conform to traditional expectations.
family ties
Before guests arrived, Katie + Drew shared special first looks and exchanged personal letters with their loving parents. They all shared tears of joy on this very special day, overwhelmed with love for their daughters.
Personal touches and beer boys
I love the way the BRIX on Fox allows for a couple’s personality to truly shine. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that combines sophistication with charm, The BRIX on Fox is the perfect choice. With its versatile event spaces, and exceptional service, it’s no wonder that this venue is a favorite among couples in Chicagoland! I loved the way Katie + Drew made their ceremony their own, with a close friend and coach from their sports days officiating, and their brother in laws as “beer boys” in place of flower girls.
Some of my favorite photos from this wedding day are these moment right after Katie and Drew became wives! We snuck away while their cocktail hour began, stealing a few quick golden hour moments of the freshly married pair outside of the venue and in the reception space before re-joining their guests for appetizers and custom cocktails.
The wedding decor matched the simple fall vibe and let the space shine! Drew + Katie used bottles of gin (their favorite spirit) as centerpieces and chose accents that coordinated with the rustic touches.
